01

Initial family consultation

We begin by listening to the student’s story, the family’s concerns, the school’s response, and the assistance being sought.

02

Educational record review

We help families understand evaluation reports, IEPs, 504 Plans, progress reports, behavior plans, discipline records, and school correspondence.

03

IEP and special education support

We assist with questions about evaluation, eligibility, services, placement, goals, accommodations, progress, and implementation.

04

504 Plan support

We help families understand Section 504 protections and prepare to discuss accommodations needed for access to school programs.

05

School-meeting preparation

We organize records, develop questions, identify priorities, review proposed documents, and clarify desired outcomes.

06

Advocacy at school meetings

When appropriate and available, an advocate may attend to support the family and encourage clear, student-focused communication.

07

Bullying, harassment, and safety

We help families organize and communicate concerns involving bullying, intimidation, discrimination, or unsafe environments.

08

Discipline concerns

We help families understand notices and procedures and prepare questions involving suspension, expulsion, or other serious discipline.

09

Student self-advocacy

We encourage students to understand their strengths, needs, accommodations, and rights and to communicate with confidence.

10

Referrals and community connections

When needs extend beyond educational advocacy, we help identify appropriate legal, mental-health, evaluation, tutoring, or community resources.

Support for vulnerable and underserved students

We are committed to students whose needs may be overlooked, including students with disabilities, students in foster or kinship care, LGBTQIA+ students, students experiencing homelessness or family instability, students affected by trauma or mental-health concerns, and students experiencing discrimination or exclusion.
